Chamber Music Society of Palm Beach greets the season with a concert and reception

Vicki Kellogg, founder and board chairwoman of the Chamber Music Society of Palm Beach, and her husband, Chris, must have had an in with the rain gods Nov. 14, when they hosted a reception and concert in their home to kick off the society’s seventh season.

Rain pattered down throughout the evening, as guests sheltered inside enjoying wine and hors d’ouevres and getting re-acquainted after the summer hiatus.

But just before the ensemble of three Kovner Fellows from The Juilliard School was set to perform, the rain stopped and everyone poured out onto the pool courtyard for the concert. Doug Evans, the society’s new executive director, greeted guests as they wiped off their chairs and settled in for the music.

Violinist Max Tan, violist Lisa Sung and cellist Yi Qun Xu gave an eloquent performance of the scherzo movement from Ludwig van Beethoven’s “String Trio in C minor No. 3“ and the first second and fifth movements from Erno Dohnanyi’s “Trio Serenade.”

Among the guests were Linda and Jay Rosenkranz, Livia Disegni, Cartel Goodman, John Paolella, Elliot Bostwick Davis, Barry Knight, Elizabeth Brenner, Sandra and Paul Goldner, Kate Scheck, Mikolaj Bauer, Susan and Peter Gottsegen and Nancy and Ellis J. Parker.
